Ecstatic Dance -

A dance of our soul - a cathartic experience, in the middle of the dance floor.

What can you expect at an Ecstatic Dance?

If you've never been to an Ecstatic Dance, then from the outside it might first look like a hippie party gone wild, with everyone is high. But the opposite is true.

At Ecstatic Dance there is neither alcohol nor any other intoxicants. Very clear rules create a safe space here, so that you can completely surrender to the moment and express yourself freely, whatever that may look like. It is about expressing your authentic self in all facets in your movement. It is mediation in motion, where you dance yourself into a state of ecstasy and quite often have a communal cathartic experience.

In order to be able to live this freedom, however, it also requires clear framework conditions, which can always vary somewhat worldwide. In general, the following rules apply:

- No alcohol or other intoxicants

- There is no talking while dancing

- One respects the personal space of the other

- No cell phones or pictures

Usually the event begins with an opening circle, in which all conditions for the coming hours are explained once again, in order to then sink together into a short mediation. Then your individual dance journey within the community begins. Just entering a space where you don't have to prove anything can be very healing.

The music begins quietly and then builds to a climax. Within the climax, most people really freak out, but are then gently brought back by the music, only to be catapulted upwards again with the next wave. Until they finally find peace again in a kind of Shavasana at the end.

Between the beginning and the end you will find a lot of space to express yourself inspired and guided by the music. This may be that you want to dance impulsively and wildly, you want to lie down or you want to free yourself by shouting out. Everything you feel is allowed to be expressed and lived in this place, without any judgment from the outside.

Experience, how through the right music and your movements alone, you can enter a state of ecstasy, a state in which you are in the moment and you surrender completely to the music and the setting. When you have succeeded in dropping all your masks, you feel the powerful medicine inherent in Ecstatic Dance.

A consensus develops among people and you experience a community in which people meet each other openly and cordially. You interact and communicate without speaking. You connect with yourself and others on other levels. Every dance is different and exciting. And the best part? After dancing through for hours, you're guaranteed not to suffer a hangover the next morning, but a enjoying a feeling of bliss.

Ecstatic dance parties, whose origins lie in Hawaii, are becoming more and more popular. The community is growing and more and more cities are hosting Estatic Dance Parties. Maybe you have been to such an event yourself and were fascinated by the feeling the music gave you? Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a DJ yourself?
